Falling Oats Cowl

After half a dozen attempts, I have finally completed my first cowl:



Pattern: my own

Needles: US4 and US6 circular needles

Yarn: handpainted Louet Gems fingering weight

Bunny

I made this super cute little bunny for my niece's first birthday. It took me about 3 hours to knit all the pieces, and an equal amount of time to add the stuffing and stitch all the pieces together. I made a few modifications:

• I used Cascade 220 with US7 needles instead of Lamb's Pride with US8 needles


• Rather than knitting the head and body as separate pieces, I knit them as one. I think the finished product would look better if they were knit separately, but I was feeling lazy. You can see some stretched stitches around the neck of my bunny, those would probably not be there if I had knit the two pieces separately and then kitchener-stitched them together


• I made the arms and legs a few rounds longer than the pattern called for


• I put the eyes and nose on after I stuffed the head, and I needle-felted them instead of embroidering them

Ravelympics recap

I had intended to finish a dozen or so WIPs for the Ravelympics. Instead I finished one WIP - the thrummed mittens that I started over a year ago, knit a new hat, and started 2 more projects.



Pattern: Koolhaas

Needles: US6 an US8

Yarn: worsted weight wool



Pattern: combination of Yarn Harlot and Hello Yarn thrummed mitten patterns

Needles: US4 and US6

Yarn: Cascade 220

Dimorphous mittens

I took a break from the squirrel mittens to make a pair of Dimorphous Mittens. This is such a clever pattern! I used an Addi US1.5 needle to knit the inner mittens two-at-a-time. I used my new set of Addi Click needles to knit the outer mittens two-at-a-time. The buttons are from the Mall of St Paul, which is my new favorite source for buttons. They have fantastic vintage buttons at really reasonable prices - the two I used here cost only 50 cents each.

Squirrel mittens

I just started my first pair of mittens. A little ambitious, don't you think?



Yarn: Knitpicks Palette

Needles: Knitpicks US1 (2.25mm)

Pattern: Squirrelly swedish mittens (ravelry)

They are going well, and they are taking less time than I thought they would, but I still will not have them done before winter is over.

Project bags

I came across a great tutorial for project bags at needled. I promptly made three small project bags:



They are all made from fabric that I already had in my stash, and it took less than 2 hours to make all 3 bags. The bags the perfect size for small knitting projects, approximately 12 tall (including handle) x 8 wide x 4 deep. They are currently holding a pair of mittens, a hat and a plush bunny, all in progress.
